It was good to compete in the forested sand dunes up in Auckland over Queens Birthday, terrain similar to what we will be competing on in Denmark. (Unfortunately illness kept me from joining Laura and the others at Waiterere a few weeks ago). Forested sand dunes are my favourite terrain so I'm really excited to see what we will come up against in Denmark.
QB we also had a sprint training event at Auckland Uni Epsom campus (used for Nationals 2009) on the Friday where we did a 2km course to get the feel of doing a sprint again before we head away for JWOC. Ross (Morrison) kindly set this course for us and it was good fun!
I get to Denmark on the 21st and have a few day to rest up, going running with friends and test out some of the permanent courses around northern Copenhagen. I'm fortunate in that I'm staying with friends who all go running!
I've been doing lots of cross training on the bike and running with friends around Upper Hutt. Kate Rea has been providing coaching advise which has been fantastic. It has been a very busy time, training each day after school and getting ahead of my school work as I'll be missing a couple of weeks of school.
I'd like to the thank the club for their assistance with my trip.
