We spent the first day doing exercises focusing on contours-only, low visibility navigation and mass starts. This was followed by an evening of table tennis, darts, moonlight golf and lasagne thanks to Val Morrison. We had an early start on Sunday and did a middle distance ‘race’ before heading back to Wellington so that Lizzie could play her club football game. A big thank-you to Malcolm and Lizzie for setting this weekend up.
My prep has included Monday night o-gang runs, Harriers races, long runs with Lizzie and Tessa and speedwork. I plan to go to as many CSW events as possible and also the Queens Birthday Carnival which is on similar terrain to what we will compete on in Denmark. I am competing in the NZ Secondary Schools Cross-country champs the day before I leave as a pre-flight burn out.
I am leaving on the 20th of June, so the countdown is already on!! I will be away for 25 days and during that time I will compete in the Vestjysk 2-days, JWOC training camp and the JWOC competition.
It has been good having the O-gang and Lizzie giving me lots of tips and training company.
