Orienteering Hutt Valley presents...
P-MAX
The Afterwork Mini-Rogaining Series
Pairs...Points...Penalties...Pizza...
P-Max is a score orienteering event for teams of two or more. In other words a short rogaine. There's really no difference. You choose your own route to visit checkpoints to maximise your score in a given time. Get back late, and you lose points. Run or walk, its a great way to get fit, and to explore your region!
The time is afterwork in February and March. The place is Hutt Valley's extraordinary network of streets, parks, beaches, riverbanks and tracks. You'll visit places you didn't know existed! And we give you the best recreational map there is!

ORIENTEERING: "involves finding your way through unfamiliar terrain using a map." Competitions are usually individual, but groups are welcome too. Checkpoints may have to be visited in a certain order, or a time limit is set. Courses can take anything from 10 minutes up, with an hour quite common.

ROGAINING: "a sport of long distance cross-country navigation", in which teams of two to five people visit as many checkpoints as they wish in a set time period. "Long" is anything up to 24hrs, but the skills can be practised over any period, such as one hour.
